So I have checked some guides and tutorials from other sites on how to change the package name of a certain app (for internal use only) but the guides somewhat doesn't help. I am relatively new to modifying an android app and I need some help.
So I have decompiled this app and checked its apktool.yml file to change the
packageinfo: but the app that I'm going to modify have no
orig_package: instead I just see
I also edited the AndroidManifest.xml's
package="insert name here" and goes like this as the guide shows.
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.internaluse.app" platformBuildVersionCode=" " platformBuildVersionName=" ">
The guide also shows that I have to change all the smali files on a smali named folder but there's no smali folder on the decompiled apk. Tried decompiling the .dex file and found a lot of smali files there.
- Is it really possible to change its package name?
- If yes, is it possible to upload this app that I will work on to the xyz company's internal Google Play Store?
- Can you give me a rough guide to execute this?
Note: We already contacted the app's company and asked their permission if we can edit its app and will be used internally (will not redistribute) and they said YES, but they will no longer support the to-be modded app that's why I'm asking if this is doable.
Will appreciate any answer.
