I need an efficient switch mode regulator for a wearable system [on hold]

It is a step-down only application to provide a healthy 5v @ 1A from a discharging 12v battery - hence the need for efficiency, as it is wearable, it can't get too hot.

Used loads of linear regulators, but I have limited experience in this area. I know there are some fantastic devices out there now, could the community possibly point me towards a suitable device. I would prefer an inductorless solution if possible and the lowest number of supporting components.

Thanks in advance.
