Linux Noob - Confusion on installing non-standard wifi driver [on hold]

I've been searching for hours on just how to generally install a driver in Linux, and I can't find any consistent instruction. I'm actually trying to update the current wifi driver to one that would include more features. I'm using Debian, and I've seen some people use apt-get to download packages. But my package is not online, its on a USB stick.

How do I simply update a wifi driver?
