Should I learn first C or assembly?

Since I learnt programming I developed only web applications, but now I would like to get into the more "hardware" part of programming. Searched a lot on Google, and read that the best languages to start are C and assembly, that is very low level. I have some questions, today, is it worth to spend time learning assembly? I ask that cause I read that today you can program hardware using high level languages like Python, does this mean that I should not learn assembly? Another question, considered the first question's answer is a yes, should I learn first assembly or c? And maybe why not C++, isn't it more advanced? I'm really confused, thanks in advance for the answers...
